Hot! Hot! Hot!

Finally! After several years of cooler-than-average Junes (referred to as "Juneuary" around here in Seattle) we are back to normal summer temperatures. Yesterday it hit 88F and today so far it's 84F with high humidity. This is the sort of weather that makes me and the cats just want to lay around doing nothing. I did go for a walk today but as soon as I got home I went straight for the tile in front of the fireplace, which is the coolest spot in the house.

The cats have been laying around, too, although that's normal for them as they rarely ever seem to be awake. Here's Shadow snuggling up with MY jack toy:

And you know it's really hot when Slinky stretches out!

Mom ordered Chinese food last night from the New China Express, which she didn't share with me as she said it was WAY too spicy and hot for me. I think she was lying; I think she just wanted to have it all to herself! Apparently Shadow the cat thought so, too, as he had gotten on the kitchen counter in the middle of the night and stole the fortune cookie that was left over from mom’s dinner. It was in a plastic bag along with packets of soy sauce & paper napkins, but he tore the bag open (mom found that on the kitchen floor) and then carried the fortune cookie into the living room where he managed to eat about half of it. I guess he stopped when he got to the fortune inside, although the fortune looks a little chewed, BOL. He couldn’t get it out so must have given up after that.

Mom got a good laugh when she read "Shadow's"
fortune - just the fortune for a guilty cat!

Finally! An Updated Post

Mom has been quite remiss in keeping my bloggie updated! I told her she must start posting for me again so...

Friday there was an exciting package in the mail with my name on it! Then mom got a card with her name on it, too! Here's the exciting package:

Since it says "Royal Mail" on it, I knew it was from my love, Wiggle The Dog, in the UK. When mom opened it, inside were three little packages. Even the kitties got a package! Here's Shadow getting a closer look (at MY package, I might add...)

She tried to get a picture of me sniffing the package but I was too excited and wiggly for a good picture. Here is the package with wet spots from my licking:

Wiggle said I could open mine (mom's is for her birthday next week). Since I've had some runny poos this week and am on a strict diet of chicken and rice, I can only sniff my chewie sticks for now.

I was all a-blur with excitement!

Thank you, Wiggle! xx

Dinnertime!

Mom really doesn't need a watch to know when it's getting close to our dinnertime. Shadow the cat usually starts in about one to two hours before, and my tummy clock goes off soon after. Slinky the cat will sometimes join in, but prefers to hang in the background & let me & Shadow do all the pestering. Here we are telling mom we want our dinner:
As you can see, we are not exactly subtle but this is because mom is quite dense & doesn't get our hints... at least I think she doesn't....

I did a 5K!!

On Saturday, May 12th, I went with mom & her friend Adrienne to do World Concern's "Free Them 5K" run/walk for charity. All the donations go to fight human trafficking worldwide, so it was for a good cause. You can read more about it here: http://www.worldconcern.org/5k/

It was a sunny day & there were lots of people & lots of dogs, too! Each dog got this fabbie bandana donated by the Christian Veterinary Mission http://www.cvmusa.org/Page.aspx?&pid=183

Here I am with mom just before we started:
We also had a group photo taken with Women of Purpose, the group we were affiliated with for the 5K. I wouldn't turn to face the camera as I would rather stare at mom, I guess:
After the walk there were booths & stuff with food & live music provided by Addison Road. I myself scored a Krispy Kreme donut that someone had foolishly dropped on the ground so I snagged it, BOL!

Here I am with mom's friend Adrienne  while mom apparently had her finger or something over the camera lens (have you noticed mom never takes attractive pictures of me? I should sack her as my photographer, BOL!)

I was a very good girl during the whole thing & mom was happy with me. I probably was one of the oldest dogs there, but I am still an active girl for my age! Afterwards mom got us a pizza, so all in all, a totally fabbie day for a very good cause!

Pancake Day

Today is Shrove Tuesday, which in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and Canada is commonly known as Pancake Day due to the tradition of eating pancakes on that day. This tradition comes from a time where any rich foods were eaten on the day before Lent, and fasting, begins. I decided that since my boyfriend, Wiggle the Dog celebrates Pancake Day that I should, too! So when mom got home from work tonight, she made blueberry pancakes for dinner. Here is a pancake frying in the pan:
She told me that she was making a blueberry pancake just for me!
She cut my pancake into pieces so I wouldn't gobble it in one bite & put maple syrup on it.
It was delicious! Here I am enjoying it:
This is the second year we've shared in this tradition with our UK friends and it's such a fabbie one we're going to do it every year!

A Gorgeous February Day

Yesterday & today we have had unseasonably warm weather here in Seattle. A few weeks ago we were deep in snow, and yesterday it was 62F / 16.6C ! Today was not quite as warm but was still nice so we walked down to Magnolia Blvd, which is a lovely walk along the Puget Sound bluffs just north of downtown Seattle.
There were lots of people & dogs out walking & plenty of sailboats in the Sound, although there wasn't much wind.
There was so much to look at I kept turning my head excitedly this way & that, & wouldn't look at mom for a picture!

A cargo ship, probably from China, anchored out in the Sound:
The Olympic Mountains to the west:
The Elliott Bay Marina with the Port of Seattle in the background (and the edge of Mount Rainier on the right)
There are many view points along the Boulevard in which to admire the views.
Walking south on the Blvd, with downtown Seattle & the Space Needle (just above the house on the left) visible in the distance:
Back home on my front porch, I STILL wouldn't look at mom for a picture! This time I was interested in the neighbors across the street dragging their recycle bin to the curb, BOL.
But later, in the back yard, I finally looked into the camera for mom & smiled!

Snow!!!!!

We got snow in Seattle! Yay! We have about six inches right now & it's still snowing lightly. I got to play in it with my soft, flingy frisbee!

I am a happy girl!
